Job Title: Senior Clinical Research Coordinator – Oncology (Patient-Facing)

Job Description

This role focuses on coordinating and executing a wide range of oncology clinical trials within a breast disease group, with a strong emphasis on direct patient interaction. The Senior Clinical Research Coordinator will manage complex drug studies, support project management activities, and contribute to clinical development while mentoring incoming staff. Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage a multitude of oncology clinical trials, ensuring adherence to study protocols, regulatory requirements, and institutional guidelines.
• Serve as a primary patient-facing coordinator for approximately 75% of the role, including patient recruitment, consent processes, and ongoing patient support throughout the study.
• Work closely with the Program Manager to support project management activities, track study progress, and help resolve operational issues.
• Use clinical research systems and tools to maintain accurate and timely study documentation, including case report forms, source documents, and regulatory files.
• Support clinical operations and clinical study activities, including scheduling visits, organizing study procedures, and coordinating with clinical and office staff.
• Collaborate with oncology researchers and physicians on complex drug studies, ensuring proper execution of study interventions and safety monitoring.
• Train and mentor incoming staff members, providing guidance on study procedures, systems, and best practices in clinical research.
• Assist in patient recruitment strategies for oncology trials, including identifying eligible participants and coordinating screening activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of clinical trial processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and data quality.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including clinical, administrative, and research personnel, to support successful trial execution.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of clinical research experience, including patient-facing responsibilities.
• Direct experience running multiple clinical trials, preferably in oncology or complex drug studies.
• Hands-on experience with clinical research systems and tools used for trial management and documentation.
• Proven background in clinical trial operations, clinical study coordination, and clinical development activities.
• Experience in patient recruitment for clinical trials, particularly within oncology settings.
• Demonstrated project management exposure, working alongside a Program Manager or similar role.
• Experience training and mentoring incoming staff members in a clinical research environment.
• Either 3 years of Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) experience with a Master’s degree OR 5 years of CRC experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple trials and patient schedules simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, clinical teams, and research staff.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of clinical research experience, or Master’s degree with at least one year of clinical research experience.
• Oncology clinical research experience or experience with complex drug studies is highly preferred.
• Interest in pursuing a project management career track within clinical research.
• Ability to mentor and support professional development of junior staff and new team members.
• Comfort working in a large, prestigious academic research environment with global oncology researchers and physicians.
• Strong commitment to patient care, cancer education, and advancing oncology research.
• Ability to adapt to evolving study requirements and institutional processes.
• Motivation to grow into roles with greater responsibility and upward mobility.

The position is based within a breast disease group in a combined clinical and office setting. The role is located in an administrative building in the former Aramark building, a few blocks from the hospital and near the fashion district of Philadelphia. The building offers beautiful views from the 27th floor and is situated right next to a major train station, providing an easy and convenient commute. You will work within one of the most prestigious academic research institutes in the world, collaborating with hundreds of oncology researchers and physicians on high-profile studies sponsored by well-known organizations. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Philadelphia, PA.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
