Diesel Mechanic Department: Mechanic Reports to: Equipment Maintenance Manager Employment Type: Full Time/ Hourly / Non-Exempt Pay Range: $25.00 - $32.00 Compensation for this position is based on experience, qualifications, certifications, welding ability, CDL status, and overall heavy equipment knowledge Position Summary Northeast Precast is seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks, heavy equipment, trailers, forklifts, and other company equipment used in manufacturing and construction operations. The ideal candidate must be safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and able to work in a fast-paced industrial environment. Our Diesel Mechanics Excel at: Heavy Duty Equipment

• Mechanical repair, maintenance, and upkeep of heavy trucks, earth-moving equipment, and related construction equipment including concrete mixers, trailers, dump trucks, forklifts, and other company vehicles
• Inspecting, repairing, and adjusting diesel-powered units, hydraulic systems, injection valves and systems, moldboards, cable-operated attachments, vehicle tires, and related equipment
• Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake system issues efficiently
• Performing preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain safe operation of equipment
• Working in a fast-paced industrial and construction environment while maintaining high safety standards

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, forklifts, loaders, and heavy equipment
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, air brake, and diesel engine issues
• Inspect equipment to identify operational or safety concerns
• Complete engine repairs, brake work, suspension repairs, welding, and component replacements as needed
• Perform oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and routine service work
• Maintain maintenance logs, repair records, and work orders accurately
• Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize operational downtime
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for company tools and equipment
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other departments regarding equipment status and repair timelines

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or similar role preferred
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brake systems
• Class A CDL driver's license preferred, but not required
• Acceptable motor vehicle record required
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures efficiently
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred; ability to perform welding repairs as needed
• Strong time management skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and repair documentation
• Must have own basic tools
• Ability to maintain equipment and work areas clean, organized, and free of debris
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather and industrial conditions

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, dusty, or noisy environments
• Ability to safely operate tools, lifts, jacks, and diagnostic equipment

Compensation details: 25-32 Hourly Wage
