Assistant Corporate Controller

Job Summary:
The Assistant Corporate Controller is responsible for helping the Corporate Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of a company, ensuring everything is done correctly. This role is crucial in helping to ensure that the company’s financial records are accurate, compliant with regulations, and effectively managed to support decision-making at higher levels of the organization. The Assistant Corporate Controller also helps ensure the company has efficient and effective accounting systems in place.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in reviewing financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), depending on the location requirements.
- Aid in the process of developing annual budgets and forecasts, collaborating with other departments to ensure financial projections.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud or errors in financial reporting.
- Help with the oversight of day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Ensure the organization complies with all financial regulations and tax laws, working with external auditors and tax advisors as needed.
- Provide financial analysis to help management understand business performance and make strategic decisions.
- Handling preparation for tax returns.
- Aid in the renewal of business licenses, filing of annual reports, and personal property tax assessments.
- Competent with financial software and technology.
- Mentor the accounting teams, providing leadership and ensuring continuous development of staff.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Five (5) plus years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
- Leadership and team management.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and tax laws.
