Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe 6800 Scenic Drive, Rowlett, 75088 Compensation $10K Sign on Bonus Job Summary The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under general supervision, helps physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures. The specialist prepares the room and equipment, instructs patients, monitors patient condition, and provides routine and emergency patient care during procedures. The specialist contributes to orientation and training of other team members and helps in daily, monthly, and quarterly quality control initiatives through auditing and reporting. Essential Functions of the Role Helps physicians with arteriograms, catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, implantable cardiac defibrillators, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy. Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff. Provides emergency procedures (CPR, defibrillation, etc.) as needed. Performs pre‑ and post‑procedure care and monitoring. Orients patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures. Answers related questions to help patients relax. Monitors patient’s ECG, pressures, temperature, and impedances while in the electrophysiology lab and notifies physicians of variances. Assists with running RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3‑D mapping, and records procedural documentation. Manages and maintains images, including stenosis testing, formatting, and processing on cardiac and peripheral cases. Assists in procedure rooms and collects registry and quality data on appropriate forms. Gathers catheterization data and prepares procedure reports. Prepares and maintains sterile fields for lab procedures. Orders and maintains inventory of procedure room supplies and ensures rooms are adequately stocked and equipment has not expired. Coordinates and/or audits resources during yearly inventories. Performs routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment; notifies appropriate team members for repairs. Helps orient and train new staff, students, or other personnel as assigned. Oversees quality control monitoring such as NPSG auditing, turnaround times, and performance improvement initiatives on a daily, monthly, and/or quarterly basis. Participates in governance, departmental, hospital, or professional organizations and committees, including LEAN initiatives, NOBLE, 5S projects, inter‑departmental committees, or professional organization participation, ensuring QC assurance with managers. Transports patients to and from procedural areas. Demonstrates good customer service skills. Key Success Factors Education and/or experience: must meet at least one of the following: Associate’s degree in a related field. Completion of a U.S. military training program with experience equivalent to an associate’s degree, or 2 years of related cardiovascular lab experience. 2 years of related cardiovascular lab experience. Must be available for on‑call response requirements per facility/department policy. Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation, and techniques. PTO accrual beginning Day 1. Qualifications Registry: Must hold an RCIS, ARRT (Radiologic Technologist)/TMB Radiography or imaging credential. Education: Technical or associate’s degree in Radiology or new program graduates welcomed. Experience: 1 year experience in the cath lab or 2 years of cath lab experience (in lieu of education). Schedule: Full‑time day shift – Monday to Friday, 4 days a week (7 am–5:30 pm) with rotational call every 4 weeks. Willing to cross‑train across modalities, including EP tech or RN that scrubs cardiac cases. Certification / License / Registration ACLS: Must complete within 30 days of hire/transfer. BLS: Must complete within 30 days of hire/transfer. Must meet one of the following: ARRT‑R and MRT thru TX Medical Board; Cardio Invasive Spec (RCIS); Reg Cardiac Electro Spec (RCES); Cert Electro Spec (CEPS); Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS).
