Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud Native)

Salary: $142,000 - 194,000 per year Requirements:

• Were seeking at least 5 years of professional software development experience delivering production-quality distributed systems, platform services, or developer tools; the minimum qualification pathways also include 8 years of software development experience, or a relevant degree combined with the specified experience, or a relevant doctorate.
• We need strong programming skills in one or more modern languages, such as Java, Go, C++, C#, or Python.
• Were looking for experience designing APIs, data models, and service architectures with attention to scalability, availability, security, and operability.
• We value a solid understanding of cloud-native systems, including containers, orchestration, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, or release engineering.
• We need someone who can own work from problem definition through design, implementation, launch, and ongoing operation.

• A qualifying education and experience pathway is a B.Tech or bachelors degree in a listed or related field plus 4 years of software development experience; an M.Tech or masters degree in a listed or related field plus 2 years of experience; 8 years of software development experience; or a doctorate in a listed or related field. Listed fields include computer science, computer or software engineering, electrical/electronics engineering, computer information systems, information systems or technology, telecommunications, mathematics, and physics.

• We design, implement, and optimize distributed-system components for scalability, including large-scale data retrieval, storage, and processing; we also conduct load and performance testing and review implementations for scalability.
• We build fault-tolerant components using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, and recovery-oriented design, and implement retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
• We develop tests, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting to detect issues and monitor component health; we prepare and execute runbooks and operational procedures to support recovery.
• We implement feature requirements and tests, including fault-injection and brownout scenarios, and use replication and synchronization techniques to maintain data integrity and availability.
• We diagnose, debug, and resolve operational issues, develop troubleshooting automation and tooling, and work to prevent service interruptions without requiring customer maintenance windows.
• We participate in operational support rotations, incident response, and root-cause investigations.
• We apply security controls, including encryption and access management, implement remediation plans, and help maintain compliance with applicable standards and current documentation.
• We maintain infrastructure automation and tools, including Infrastructure as Code, and follow change-management plans for patching, updates, and rollbacks.

Were partnering with hackajob to recruit for Oracles OCI AppConfig team, which is building a new cloud platform for application configuration and feature flighting. The team owns the service end to end, including APIs, control plane, globally distributed configuration evaluation, SDKs, self-service tools, security, auditability, observability, and operations for a Tier-0 service. As a greenfield team, were shaping the architecture and using AI-assisted development, automation, and intelligent operational workflows. The role is based onsite in Nashville, Tennessee, five days a week; it is not remote, and relocation assistance is available.
