About the Position

Job Title: Echocardiographic Technician Profession: Echocardiographic Technician Specialty: Echocardiographic Technician Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 40 hours, 0700-1730 Experience: 1 year in a hospital setting License: Required Certifications: - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or eligible for certification from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) - Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent certification required Description: Performs ultrasound technical duties for imaging heart muscle and functions. Creates images of the heart, cardiac chambers, valves, and vessels for assessing heart functions and diagnoses. Collaborates closely with cardiologists, performing the technical aspects of examinations. Evaluates findings and reports them to cardiologists. Sets up ultrasound equipment, attaches electrodes to the patient chest and equipment, and documents cardiac data and measurements. Prepares patients by positioning, spreading gels, attaching electrodes to the chest and equipment, verifying wave signals, and recording images. Interviews patients and reviews medical records to adapt sonographic techniques. Provides patient care, including preparing patients for sonographic imaging and providing instructions. Performs echocardiography on treadmill patients to assess heart functions. Maintains equipment and inventories, restocks supplies, reviews patient schedules, and sets up recording equipment. Enters patient information into appropriate systems. Stays updated on job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Organizational requirements include ensuring compliance with all required vaccinations as a condition of employment. Medical and religious exemptions may apply.
