Lab Technician Job

Job Responsibilities Develop and improve laboratory methods and procedures, including order, organization, and stocking of laboratory supplies to prevent essential mineral run‑outs. Provide technical support to Process Engineers and supervision on special projects or process improvements. Complete and maintain accurate documentation of finished product, in‑process, and raw material testing, and required environmental compliance reports. Ensure instrumentation is calibrated and maintained to provide accurate data. Act as ISO Coordinator, performing internal and external auditing, management reviews, improvement plans, documents control, and communication of the ISO Quality System. Analyze finished products and raw materials using wet chemical, instrumental, and physical testing equipment and techniques. Perform environmental compliance testing to ensure plant environmental systems operate properly. Evaluate in‑process samples to ensure compliance with targets and specifications. Calculate adjustments to processes based on obtained data if needed. Report test findings in appropriate systems. HSEQ Responsibilities Comply with the HSEQ Policy and all regulatory requirements. Follow HES and Operating Discipline procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas. Initiate and participate in Root Cause Investigations. Execute Emergency Response procedures to mitigate unplanned events. Adhere to standard procedures and work instructions (SP, SOP, PWI, TM). Review work areas for potential losses and report hazards, near misses, incidents, or accidents to the direct supervisor. Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system. Qualifications 3–5 years of college coursework in chemistry and mathematics or related experience; B.S./B.A. in Chemistry preferred. Decision‑making and problem‑solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with personal computer and spreadsheet applications. Ability to read, write, and type technical documentation. Independent work capability and strong teamwork. Process‑related knowledge and recommendation capability. Aptitude to operate and maintain sophisticated analytical instrumentation. Safe handling of hazardous chemicals. Competencies Work under pressure to meet deadlines. High degree of self‑motivation. Work with minimal supervision.
