Our specialized focus lies in crafting high-quality models, prototypes, and manufacturing/design solutions. The ADL is actively seeking a Laser Specialist to join our team. Problem-solving will be key in this environment - you will leverage CAD and CAM software in conjunction with state-of-the-art laser equipment of various types to build professional prototypes. This is a fast-paced, think-on-your-feet, challenging prototype environment, ideal for a passionate maker with proven experience and a deep drive to continue learning. Responsibilities

• Gather job requirements from engineers, clearly communicating our shop capabilities and offering design for manufacturability feedback
• Prepare materials, set up various laser machines, program tool paths, and conduct spot checks on finished components
• Adhere to stringent quality and safety standards

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience working independently on new assignments - including setting up, operating, and programming a CNC machine in a 3D CAD/CAM environment
• Ability to program complex 3D parts
• Experience holding close tolerances and validating critical features and dimensions using hand metrology equipment
• Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
• Self-driven to continue learning, and passionate about laser technology

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with process development of one or more of the following: laser welding, ablation, marking, or cutting
• 5+ years of Prototype manufacturing experience in a fast paced, quality focused environment
• Familiarity with lasers, up to/including Ultrafast(Femtosecond) systems
• Journeyman level machine operation and setup in a prototyping environment - multiple disciplines of manufacturing experience desirable
• Programming experience with general part geometries as well as free form shapes
• Knowledge of Machine code
• Experience using horizontal and vertical saws, manual mills and lathes
• Ability to apply and advise on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances
• Experience reading, interpreting and applying detailed part drawing requirements

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $51.19 and $89.84/hr, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
