Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Anesthesiology, is seeking board-eligible or board-certified anesthesiologists to join our general anesthesiology faculty. We are looking for team players who enjoy teaching residents, who are drawn to mission-oriented medicine, and who want to practice in a collegial environment where the people beside you are the best part of the job.

The Practice
As an affiliate of Loma Linda University Health, our general anesthesiology faculty care for adult patients across the full breadth of the specialty at a Level I trauma center, two surgical specialty hospitals, and a busy ambulatory surgery center. They also provide obstetric anesthesia for the labor and delivery service at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. Faculty may rotate among all sites. A typical week includes a full spectrum of surgical specialty procedures and patients. Examples include patients undergoing abdominal, orthopedic, vascular, neurosurgical, ENT, urologic procedures trauma, obstetrics, and non-operating-room anesthesia in patients who are healthy or medically complex. Supervision of residents is typically 1:2 with CRNA supervision at 1:2, up to 1:4. Those with an interest in regional anesthesia can join the acute pain service. Clinical assignments are varied by design, and faculty who want to concentrate in an area of interest are supported.

The Faculty
Our faculty cover for one another, consult freely, and share the difficult cases. New faculty are mentored by experienced colleagues, and department leadership is accessible and values faculty input. We are looking for physicians who will do the same: relieve a colleague at the end of a long day, offer a second set of hands for a difficult airway or line, and take on the unassigned case without being asked.

Teaching
Our residents are the reason many of us chose academic practice. Faculty supervise and teach residents in the operating room, in didactics, and in simulation. The strength of that clinical training shows in our graduates, who are sought after by private practices and academic departments alike. We are looking for faculty who find that work rewarding and who bring patience and high standards.

Advancement
Loma Linda University Health is an academic health system with an anesthesiology residency; fellowship programs in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology, pediatric anesthesiology, regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine, liver transplant, and critical care; and an active clinical research program. Faculty advance along a defined academic track with support for promotion, and leadership roles are available in resident education, quality and safety, perioperative medicine, regional anesthesia, research, and department administration.

Compensation
Expected total annual compensation is $462,000 - $562,000. Starting full-time base compensation of $450,000 - $520,000 is adjusted for years of experience and faculty rank; total compensation above base reflects variable and productivity-based pay under the department compensation plan. Faculty who want to work more can earn more through incentivized clinical work, additional shifts and call. Details are discussed with the department during the recruitment process.

Qualifications
Candidates must be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology. We welcome candidates at all career stages, from those completing residency to experienced clinicians. Fellowship training in regional, obstetric, or neuroanesthesia is welcome but not required.
