Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife- Maternal Evaluation Unit - Part-time

Advanced Practice Provider - Maternal Evaluation Unit - UAB Women & Infants Center The following APPs may be considered for this role: Women's Health Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife. Work schedule: Part‑time, benefited – 12 hr rotating/blended shifts (7am‑7pm, 7pm‑7am or 12p‑12a). Nine shifts per month required. Weekends and holidays are required. No on‑call. Differential Pay per shift (regardless of shift length): PM differential: $120 per night shift (7pm‑7am) Evening differential: $45 per evening shift (12p‑12a) Weekend differential: $50 per AM shift on weekends (7am‑7pm) (Note: Stipends do not stack; the higher of the stipends for the shift applies.) CME allowance: Full‑time benefited APPs receive an annual $2,000.00 CME allowance. This can be used for recertification, fees, CMEs, etc. that occur after a new employee's start date. Responsibilities Formulate and implement patient care plans based on pre‑defined clinical pathways for patients presenting to the MEU. Order and interpret laboratory, radiologic, and other diagnostic tests necessary for the evaluation of patients in the MEU. Bill for services rendered within the MEU and ensure clinical documentation supports the level of service charged. Adhere to all applicable regulatory, quality, and compliance protocols. Educate patients and their families regarding their medical condition, care plan, medications, and patient responsibilities. Communicate results of MEU evaluation with primary care physician or clinic. Consult with primary OB/GYN, resident staff, and attending physician as need for changes in the patient's condition or care plan. Work in a collaborative relationship with resident physician staff and with MEU nursing. Actively involved in the education of medical students and junior residents in triage of pregnant patients. Special Skills Ability to read and interpret non‑stress tests (NST’s) Ability to perform and interpret limited ultrasound examinations Ability to perform light microscopy for evaluation of vaginal discharge Ability to document patient encounters in Impact electronic medical record system (Cerner) #J-18808-Ljbffr
