Behavior SpecialistTERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-Exempt Position; 10 months; Full Time; 40hr/wkSALARY: Salary Scale 06; Based on qualifications and experience.QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in job related field required; educator license preferred; or special education license preferred; CPI Trainer Certification, or willing to obtain it, preferred.DUTIES:Responsible for assisting general and special education teachers in providing classroom and behavior support for students who are behaviorally challenged; assists teachers in the identification and development of individualized instructional/behavioral interventions intended to change behavior; using evidence based strategies to change behavior; supports teachers in collecting required documentation for the tier process to include functional behavioral assessment, student progress, planning for and implementing behavior plans and data collection; collaborates with principals, teachers, special education staff to identify, plan and implement professional development activities and determine follow-up as needed; supports PBIS; assists teachers in the development of instructional materials, accommodations, modifications and assessments needed for special needs students who are educated in the general education classroom setting and in self- contained classrooms; participates in eligibility and IEP meetings as requested; facilitates transitions between self-contained and general education placements; attends all special education department meetings; maintains documents and data collection necessary for the behavioral support grant; additional duties as assigned by Superintendent and/or Director of Student Support Services.BENEFITS: Benefits AvailableAPPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications will be accepted until position is filled.**The Jackson County Public School System is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any person in hiring, tenure, or promotion on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, national origin, age or handicaps in any of its education or employment programs or activities.
