IT Support Specialist Intern

Team Gilbert is seeking two (2) Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist Interns to provide front‑line support for the Town’s computer, laptop, peripheral, and other related equipment. The interns will partner with business partners to install, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues, ensuring a high level of customer service for town employees. Responsibilities Service, install, and maintain various computers, laptops, peripherals, and related equipment throughout the Town. Troubleshoot, prevent, and repair hardware and software problems for a user base of over 1,200. Diagnose and resolve network security, software, operating system, and system performance issues. Install, image, diagnose, and resolve problems with personal computer hardware, related peripheral devices, software, and network services, and install local and network‑connected printers. Provide client support and explain technical solutions to non‑technical customers. Qualifications Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a customer‑facing team environment. Strong problem‑solving skills and a solutions‑oriented attitude. Associate’s degree in technology or a closely related field. At least 1 year of recent service‑desk experience with a variety of operating systems, software, hardware, and applications, including troubleshooting for 1,200+ users. A+ Certification is desired but not required. Network+ Certification is desired but not required. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (M365), and other relevant technologies. Familiarity with Apple OS/IOS (MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPad). Skill in Active Directory network environments. Knowledge of InTune, MDM (Jamf, Maas360). Experienced in research methods for solving complex repair problems. Adept at installing, imaging, diagnosing, and resolving problems with PC hardware, peripheral devices, software, and network services. Ability to troubleshoot network security, software, operating system, and system performance issues. Must be enrolled in an accredited college institution as an undergraduate student. Employment Terms This is an at‑will, FLSA non‑exempt, part‑time internship. Interns will work up to 20 hours per week, Monday‑Thursday, 7 am‑6 pm. The internship is semester‑long for Fall 2026 with a potential extension through Spring 2027, depending on interest and availability. The anticipated start date is August 17 2026.
