J ob Title: General Production WorkerPosition Summary

The General Production Worker is responsible for supporting daily manufacturing, assembly, packaging, and shipping operations across multiple production departments. This role performs a variety of hands-on production tasks including wood cutting and assembly, foam fabrication, corrugated packaging production, material handling, dock operations, and general warehouse support. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining quality standards.

The General Production Worker utilizes hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and production equipment to manufacture custom packaging solutions, crates, and protective products for customers across various industries. Employees are expected to follow established safety procedures, ISO work instructions, quality requirements, and departmental operating standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Manufacturing Operations

• Perform assigned production tasks in departments such as:
  • Wood Cutting
  • Wood Assembly
  • Foam Cutting and Fabrication
  • Foam Assembly
  • Material Handling
  • Corrugated Manufacturing
  • Pulp Operations
  • Shipping and Dock Operations
• Assemble custom crates, pallets, boxes, and packaging products according to specifications and work instructions.
• Operate production machinery, hand tools, and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Complete production assignments within established timelines while meeting quality standards.
• Accurately measure, cut, assemble, and package materials using tape measures and other precision measuring tools.
• Read and interpret production orders, work instructions, blueprints, sketches, and assembly drawings.
• Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with customer specifications and company quality standards.
• Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparing products for shipment.

Quality & Compliance

• Follow all company safety guidelines, quality standards, and ISO procedures.
• Conduct quality checks throughout the production process to verify accuracy and workmanship.
• Minimize material waste and scrap through efficient production practices.
• Identify and report product defects, quality concerns, or process issues immediately.
• Ensure completed products meet customer requirements before shipment.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Safety Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report unsafe conditions, near misses, accidents, or hazards promptly.
• Operate equipment only after receiving proper training and authorization.
• Follow lockout/tagout and machine safety procedures when required.
• Actively participate in safety meetings, audits, and training programs.
• Support the company's commitment to OSHA SHARP and workplace safety initiatives.

Housekeeping & Workplace Organization

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S principles.
• Keep workstations, tools, equipment, and production areas orderly.
• Remove waste materials and dispose of scrap products properly.
• Process recyclable materials according to company recycling procedures.
• Assist with facility cleanliness and department organization initiatives.

Teamwork & Cross-Functional Support

• Work collaboratively with supervisors, team members, and other departments.
• Participate in cross-training programs to develop skills across multiple production areas.
• Assist other departments during peak workloads or staffing needs.
• Communicate effectively regarding production status, safety concerns, and operational issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and productivity goals.

Required QualificationsEducation

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Equivalent work experience may be considered.

Experience

• Previous experience in manufacturing, production, assembly, warehouse, packaging, machine operation, or general labor preferred.
• Experience using hand tools and power tools preferred.
• Experience working in a fast-paced production environment is highly desirable.

• Forklift certification or material handling experience (if applicable).
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Previous experience in custom manufacturing environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to use hands for gripping, handling, assembling, and operating tools.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to work safely around moving machinery and production equipment.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.

Shift Availability

First Shift

• Monday through Friday
• 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Second Shift

• Monday through Friday
• 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sutton, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
