Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our client's finance team on a temp-to-perm basis. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial leadership within the FMCG sector and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This role will support strategic financial planning and ensure robust financial reporting and compliance, working closely with senior leadership. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, GL, inventory, and cost accounting Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets Prepare and present financial reports to senior leadership and stakeholders Support audits, tax filings, and compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements Partner with cross-functional teams (Sales, Operations, Supply Chain) to improve financial performance and operational efficiency Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff (if applicable) Support ERP and financial system improvements or implementations Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost control Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred) Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller role Proven experience in the FMCG industry Strong understanding of inventory management, cost accounting, and supply chain finance Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling experience Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills Able to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment Must be able to work East Coast hours (EST) Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
