Pastry CookThe Pastry Cook is responsible for pastry and baking production, following the directive of the Pastry Chef, for all hotel outlets. The baker is responsible for the quality and timeliness of the product and for the cleanliness and organization of the pastry shop.What you'll be doingCoordinate production of all baked goods and dessert items ordered by the outletsPlan and organize production, purchasing and schedulingControl food and labor costsProduce the highest quality standards for bakery and pastryDemonstrate a thorough knowledge of all pastry cooking and decorating techniques and skills: Possess thorough knowledge of methods of preparation of classical and modern desserts, breads and pastriesWork quickly and efficiently to meet deadlines and demands of businessCheck staffing, uniforms, daily production sheets, etcCheck production for all meal periods to ensure consistencyAttend department meetingsOther duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job descriptionTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorilyEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE3 years experience in pastry kitchen of a luxury hotelCulinary degree or relevant experienceREQUIREMENTSPhysical demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hearThe employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel materials, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and armsEmployee must be able to occasionally lift up to 25lbsCommunication Good verbal skills requiredComputer skills – noneWORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment is varied.
