Cost Estimator

Overview It all starts with Estimating! Cost estimators serve a pivotal role in planning, design, and pricing of bids for future work. As a Cost Estimator you will design execution plans and develop cost estimates for large-scale dredging projects, with the guidance and support of a team with decades of dredging experience. This position also provides a high-level of exposure to executive management with various growth opportunities. The position reports to the Vice President of Estimating. Responsibilities Produce accurate cost estimates for hard bid projects Review and summarize key elements of project plans and specifications Ability to produce clear, concise overview drawings for presentation and discussions Ability to present the project and estimate during bid review sessions with senior management Demonstrate strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability in the development of the estimate Work closely with various support departments in a team environment Capable of effective time-management, able to prioritize various project tasks simultaneously Offer estimating support to on-site Project Managers during execution of project Update and monitor project costs, production, and budget throughout construction Additional duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration; or equivalent and relevant work experience Must possess at least one of the following: 5 years of relevant experience in the dredging and/or marine construction industry OR 5 years of relevant experience in a cost estimating position in a comparable industry (Civil Construction, Construction Engineering, etc.) Must have experience with complex "hard bids" ranging between 25mil to 300mil (or more); Bids are very complex and range 25mil and up. Proficient in standard Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; analytical experience utilizing PowerBi or similar software is a plus Effective communicator and attentive listener with excellent attention to detail Self-starter, willing to learn, and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic, fast paced environment Excellent written and oral communication skills for senior management reporting Must be able to work a hybrid schedule of 4 days in the office and 1 day remote Benefits Competitive salary and performance incentive program 401(k) program that includes 100% company matching of the first 6% of employee contributions with immediate vesting Annual profit-sharing contributions by the company to participants 401(k) accounts based on company’s annual performance Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription, Life and Disability insurance plans #J-18808-Ljbffr Global Edge Group
