Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Licensed Practical NurseBerkshire Center is a skilled nursing facility located in West Babylon, NY. Our mission is to provide the highest level of care for each of our residents. We are looking for an experienced LPN that can provide a high level of care. This is a union position.Schedule: 3pm-7pm 5 days per week with rotating weekends.Job Duties:The purpose of your job as a Licensed Practical Nurse is to perform a variety of care practices under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Supervisor of the unit/shift. This includes, but not limited to:Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate etc.Observe residents under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.Monitor residents' condition including fluid intake and output and compose patient charts.Administer injections, prescribed medications, enemas etc., clean and dress wounds.Collect samples for lab testing as assigned.Provide emotional and psychological support when needed.Communicate with residents' family or friends to provide advice, comfort, and release instructions.Qualifications:Please do not apply if you cannot meet the shift requirements (5 days per week and must be able to arrive at 3pm)Nursing home or LTC experience requiredCurrently licensed by the State of New York..Possesses attention to detail and observation skills that enable the recognition of condition changes in the resident.Ability to coordinate all functions in the operation of a resident unit through effective team nursing assignments.Kind, helpful and compassionate.
