Cashier

Purpose Scan items, ensure that prices and quantities are correct, collect payments, assist customers by explaining or recommending items, answer questions, and maintain a clean workspace. Responsibilities Welcoming customers, answering questions, helping them locate items and providing advice or recommendations. Operating scanners, scales, cash registers, and other electronics. Bagging or wrapping purchases to ensure safe transport. Following all store procedures regarding specific items, such as alcohol or cigarettes. Maintaining a clean workspace. Performing other tasks assigned by the manager. Customer Service Know the purpose of popular over‑the‑counter medicines and guide customers to the appropriate area. Recognize major cigarette and tobacco products. Learn check‑cashing procedures. Properly sell lotto/scratch‑off tickets and validate them. Use services such as Sin Pin and Boss Revolution for top‑ups and register them correctly. Answer phone calls using the correct phrasing, take orders, resolve customer questions, and delegate to the designated person if uncertain. Use money‑transfer platforms following protocol (verify ID, obtain client signature, and complete necessary documents). Generate money orders and assist customers in completing them when time permits. Make utility payments across all platforms. Food Service Recognize and serve appropriate portions of food. Operate the scale. Ensure all food is presentable with cutlery and napkins. Prepare and dispense American coffee from dispensers. Recognize major ingredients in prepared meals. Make café con leche and all Cuban coffee products. Maintenance Clean and sanitize large equipment. Sweep and mop the store. Dust and maintain aisles and merchandise, keeping the store clean. Clean and maintain bathrooms. Clean storefront and back area. Refill bags, cutlery, and other low‑stock materials. Leadership Take initiative in store presentation and customer service. Support teammates with tasks and organize the team when needed. Requirements Cheerful demeanor and ability to provide excellent customer service. Bilingual in English and Spanish, able to read, write, understand, and communicate in both languages. Experience in retail and customer service. Strong communication skills – good listener, clear instructions. Ability to handle multiple demands. Ability to follow through on commitments. Cashier experience or customer service background. Accuracy and responsibility in handling transactions. Basic math and computer skills. Physical ability to stand, walk, lift heavy items, and work in a fast‑paced team environment.
