Department ManagerColliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Department Manager to join our Governmental/Municipal team in the Philadelphia Metro Area. This is your chance to join a passionate team that's shaping the communities of tomorrow.ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership, strategic/managerial direction, and guidance to achieve established financial and growth goals for the discipline.Responsible for overall productivity, profitability, client satisfaction, and quality of work.Develop, execute, and lead discipline marketing and business development strategies in collaboration with the marketing and business development teams.Work with leadership to build a production team.Evaluate and monitor budgets, billing, and collections.Consistently monitors the backlog of work and the sharing of resources within the discipline, maximizing staff utilization. Reviews staff utilization regularly and promptly addresses staff not meeting utilization goals.Responsible for fostering staff professional development, monitoring staffing/recruiting activity, and effectively managing employee relations.Comply with and ensure others' compliance with all policies and procedures.Serve as project manager while being a resource for staff on assigned projects and manage completion of projects regarding scope, schedule, quality, and budget.Provide staff with technical assistance and supervision in the preparation of proposals and contracts for assigned projects.Prepare pertinent information for client/agency meetings and attend, as needed.Develop the skills and abilities of staff which are necessary for successful execution of work duties.Serve as a mentor and coach staff.Manage the performance of assigned staff, conduct performance evaluations, and provide input for promotions and staff advancement.Collaborate with other firms in pursuit of opportunities and manage subconsultant contracts.QualificationsBachelor's degree in civil engineering.P.E. (Professional Engineer) license required.10+ years of experience in civil/municipal engineering with concentration on public infrastructure design.Ability to manage clients and develop new business.Excellent communication skills.Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.What We OfferAt Colliers Engineering & Design, our people are our most important resource.
