About the Position:

\n

\n

Company is seeking an Underwriter that is able to work in a fast-paced environment to underwrite new and renewal professional liability business.

\n

Primary Responsibilities:

\n

\n

This position will perform all required underwriting responsibilities and duties including the following:

\n

·        Review new business submissions to determine acceptability and insurability and prepare premium quotations and proposals.

\n

·        Review new business applications to determine insurability and develop appropriate premium and issue insurance binders to applicants, their employees or insurance representatives.

\n

·        Review renewal applications, evaluates losses and loss ratio to determine appropriate premium and issue renewal terms to policyholders, their employees or insurance representatives.

\n

·        Present quotations and/or proposals to policyholders, their employees or insurance representatives.

\n

·        Maintain active contact with assigned accounts.

\n

·        Research emerging underwriting issues to review alternative solutions and develop underwriting position papers.

\n

·        Determine appropriate response to customer inquiries to assure maximum policyholder satisfaction and communicate response directly with policyholders, their employees or insurance representatives.

\n

·        Assure optimal customer service is provided with each policyholder contact.

\n

·        Represent and market ISMIE Mutual at Outreach presentations.

\n

·        Maintain electronic/paper files for assigned accounts in good and businesslike condition.

\n

·        Additional responsibilities as required.

\n

Required Skills and Qualifications:

\n

\n

Education Required for Position:

\n

·        Desirable Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

\n

\n

Experience Required for Position:

\n

·        Insurance underwriting or medical experience required.

\n

\n

Specific Skills Required for Position:

\n

•        Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

\n

•        Strong analytical skills required.

\n

•        Word processing skills required.

\n

•        Excel skills and ability to create spreadsheets required.

\n

•        Mathematical skills and use of calculator required.

\n

•        Professional and service-oriented demeanor required.

\n

•        Ability to work and cope in a high pressure and fast-paced environment required.

\n

•        Ability to travel in Illinois (mostly day trips) required.

\n

•        Experience in professional liability preferred.

\n

•        INS, CPCU, RPLU preferred

\n

Compensation and Benefits:

\n

The pay range is estimated to be between $110,000 and $150,000 per year for Chicago residents. *

\n
