DoD SkillBridge Program

The DoD SkillBridge Fellow will participate in a unique training program designed to provide transitioning service members with valuable civilian work experience. This fellowship aims to bridge the gap between military service and civilian employment by offering hands‑on experience in a professional setting. The Fellow will work closely with experienced professionals, gaining insights and skills that are directly transferable to the civilian workforce. The U.S. Department of Defense continues to pay the service member's salary and benefits while they participate in SkillBridge. This opportunity may last up to the final 180 days of service. Military installation Commanders can make on‑base facilities available to industry partners for use in their SkillBridge programs, or members may be authorized to train at the industry partner's location off installation at minimal to no cost. A SkillBridge fellow can expect to complete their internship and gain experience in one of the following departments based on qualifications, background, and interests: Quality & Continuous Improvement Operations Supply Chain Human Resources Communications Information Technology Project Management Essential Duties & Responsibilities will vary by department. All SkillBridge Fellows are expected to: Participate in training and workshops to gain relevant skills and knowledge in areas such as manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and business operations. Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects and initiatives across different departments.
