Job Summary- Community Missions is dedicated to supporting our residents by ensuring access to the public assistance programs and entitlements they are eligible for. We work to empower our residents by helping them navigate complex systems to secure the benefits that contribute to their financial stability and well-being. In this role, you will assist residents in identifying and applying for local, state, and federal entitlement programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, housing assistance, and Social Security benefits. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of government benefit programs, experience working with diverse populations, and excelling case management skills.
Key Responsibilities-
· Assess the eligibility of residents for various entitlement programs, including food assistance (SNAP), healthcare (Medicaid, Medicare), housing subsidies, and Social Security benefits.
· Provide direct support to residents in completing applications, collecting necessary documentation, and navigating the approval processes for government programs.
· Maintain current knowledge of entitlement programs and their eligibility requirements to ensure accurate and up-to-date guidance to residents.
· Follow up on applications, assist with appeals when necessary, and ensure residents are aware of any changes to their benefit status
· Collaborate with housing staff, case managers, and other social service providers to ensure comprehensive support for residents
· Advocate on behalf of residents to ensure they receive the maximum benefits available to them.
Qualifications-
· Preferred Bachelors Degree in Human Services field, Finance, or related field
· Valid New York State Driver’s License with clean driving record
· CPR/Red Cross trained (agency will provide)
