Financial Analyst 9-P11 - Enterprise Licensing

Position Summary The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) seeks a professional Financial Analyst for the Enterprise Licensing section. The analyst will review, analyze, and evaluate financial documents – including personal and business bank accounts, investment portfolios, net‑worth statements, tax returns, and other financial data – to assess the financial probity of license applicants and licensees. The role supports the investigative arm of MGCB, providing on‑site financial expertise throughout the investigative and licensing process as outlined by applicable gambling statutes. Key Responsibilities Conduct systematic reviews and analyses of applicants’ and licensees’ financial records. Interpret financial data to determine integrity and probity in accordance with the Michigan Gaming Control & Revenue Act and related laws. Participate in financial reviews of applicants and licensees as assigned by MGCB. Provide on‑site financial expertise during investigative and licensing activities. Qualifications Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major with a minimum of 12 semester (18 term) credits in accounting, finance, or economics. Experience levels: Financial Analyst9 – no specific experience required. Financial Analyst10 – one year of professional experience performing systematic review, analysis, interpretation, or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data. Financial AnalystP11 – two years of professional experience, including one year equivalent of Financial Analyst10; up to one half of required experience may be substituted with college credits (one year of college for one quarter of required experience). Adherence to high ethical standards and commitment to integrity required in state classified service. Benefits Initial Signing Bonus of $1,250 (limited to new State of Michigan employees). Additional Retention Bonus of $1,250 upon completion of one year of satisfactory service; must be repaid if the employee leaves the department before one year. Remote work may be considered based on operational needs; approved positions require a minimum of two in‑office days per week and must be based within Michigan. Employment Standards MGCB conducts personal reference checks, criminal background checks, drug testing, and required tax transcript verifications before a conditional offer.
