ICU Registered Nurse

Experience: Minimum of 2 years' ICU experience, including cardiac experience

License: Active and in good standing

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS

Must-Have: Minimum of 2 years' ICU experience, including cardiac experience

Willingness to float to PCU and Med Surg as needed

Experience with IABP

Experience with Impella

Experience with CRRT

Experience with Day 2/Day 3 post-op CABGs

Pediatric experience highly preferred

Description: This unit has a bed size of 10 with an average daily census of 5 or more. Ratios are 1:1 or 1:2 depending on patient acuity. Common diagnoses include open hearts, CHF, COPD, OD, sepsis, CVAs with TPA, DKA, and some neuro cases. Adults and patients under the age of 8 will be admitted to the ICU. Patients over 8 years of age will be placed in PCU or Med Surg unless they require ICU level of care or need to be transferred out. The unit promotes great teamwork among staff members. Floating is a requirement for RNs, who will be the first to float to PCU and Med Surg as necessary. Weekends are typically scheduled for 2 weekends per month, but flexibility is expected based on unit needs. There may be a requirement for up to 2 extra mandatory shifts per 6 weeks. Timeliness is expected, including clocking out for lunch. Termination may occur after three call-outs. Scheduling does not allow for self-scheduling or blocked scheduling and is based on unit needs. Holidays may include 1 major and 1 minor. This is an Acute Care setting.
