Job Title: RN ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 PM - 07:30 AM) Experience: 2+ years of continuous ICU experience, preferably in a Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit License: Active RN License Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS Must-Have: 2+ years of continuous MICU experience required Must be able to read telemetry strips Floating required to Medical/Surgical units Telemetry competency required Description: This position involves working night shifts with weekends on a 36-hour schedule. The unit is a Level III Trauma Center with 20 beds, caring for adult patients with various critical conditions. Patients may present with diagnoses such as substance abuse, severe psychiatric conditions, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock. Staffed with both attendings and residents present in the ICU 24 hours a day. The RN to patient ratio is typically 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity cases, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other Medical/Surgical areas. Experience in floating between units is required, with responsibilities including care for 4 to 5 patients as necessary. This facility utilizes an electronic medical record (EMR) system for charting. Candidates need to demonstrate strong clinical skills and the ability to handle high-stress situations effectively. Teamwork and strong communication skills are essential for successful collaboration within the intensive care environment.
