This position ensures that products are received according to company standards, purchase orders, and safety guidelines while maintaining accurate inventory records. The Receiver plays a key role in controlling inventory, reducing shrink, and supporting efficient store operations.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReceive and verify incoming deliveries from vendors and warehouse suppliers.Inspect shipments for accuracy, damage, quality, and expiration dates.Match delivered products against invoices, purchase orders, and shipping documents.Report shortages, overages, damages, and discrepancies to management.Ensure proper handling of perishable, frozen, refrigerated, and dry grocery products.Maintain accurate receiving records and inventory documentation.Label and organize products for efficient storage and stocking.Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature-control requirements.Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other approved equipment safely.Assist with inventory counts and audits as directed.Coordinate with department managers regarding incoming shipments.Keep receiving docks, coolers, freezers, and storage areas clean and organized.Return damaged or unauthorized merchandise according to company procedures.Maintain compliance with OSHA, food safety, and company safety standards.Assist other departments as needed to support store operations.Shifts range from mornings, nights, weekends, and holidaysQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.Previous receiving, warehouse, grocery, or retail experience preferred.Basic math and recordkeeping skills.Ability to read invoices, purchase orders, and shipping documents.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Good communication and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments.Ability to push and pull loaded carts, pallet jacks, and merchandise pallets.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesInventory control and receiving procedures.Product rotation and shrink prevention practices.Food safety and sanitation standards.Time management and multitasking skills.Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve receiving issues.Safe material handling practices.Working ConditionsFast-paced retail grocery environment.Exposure to varying temperatures, including coolers and freezers.Frequent interaction with vendors, delivery drivers, and store employees.Early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.Performance ExpectationsMaintain accurate receiving records and inventory integrity.Minimize receiving errors and product shrink.Ensure all deliveries are processed promptly and accurately.Maintain a safe, clean, and organized receiving area.Consistently follow company policies, food safety standards, and safety procedures.Why You'll Love Working at Vintage Grocers:Amazing earning potential, paid weekly!A value-based culture that will engage and empower your growth and developmentOpportunity for growthBenefits available – Including medical, dental, vision, and 401K (Based on position and after probationary period is complete)20% discount$55 credit to SR Max shoes
