Help transform cancer care by using health economics, clinical outcomes research, and advanced analytics to demonstrate the value of innovative care models. As Director/Principal Research Scientist, Health Economics, you will lead research initiatives that measure clinical impact, evaluate cost savings, and inform strategic decisions across a growing value-based oncology care organization. You will guide a team of research scientists while developing predictive analytics and risk adjustment strategies that connect care delivery activities with patient outcomes and financial performance. Working closely with clinical, data science, and business teams, you will turn complex healthcare data into actionable insights for internal leaders and external partners. Your work will support continuous improvement in care delivery, strengthen customer relationships, and help demonstrate the effectiveness of new clinical interventions. This fully remote opportunity combines scientific leadership, analytical rigor, and meaningful impact on the experiences of people living with cancer.
\n Accountabilities: As a senior leader in health economics and outcomes research, you will oversee research strategy, lead a team of scientists, and establish consistent analytical practices to measure clinical effectiveness and financial value. You will translate complex claims data and evaluation findings into practical recommendations that improve care delivery, inform partnerships, and support organizational growth.
Lead and develop a team of research scientists responsible for evaluating clinical outcomes for patients with cancer and demonstrating the impact of oncology care programs. Develop clear, evidence-based narratives that communicate the organization's clinical and economic value to customers, partners, and executive stakeholders. Plan and conduct internal program evaluations, translating findings into actionable recommendations that help care teams improve performance against operational targets. Define the strategy for predictive analytics and risk adjustment, guiding the development and application of models used to assess care quality and outcomes. Oversee analyses estimating potential cost savings and financial impact from provider partnerships, clinical interventions, and improvements in care delivery. Support the development and maintenance of analytical models connecting operational activities to claims-based outcomes and overall financial performance. Oversee healthcare claims data quality checks, investigate anomalies, identify root causes, and collaborate with data science teams to resolve data issues. Establish consistent measurement definitions, analytical methodologies, and reporting standards across the organization. Promote best practices in data accuracy, documentation, analytical reporting, and interpretation of clinical and financial results. Collaborate across clinical, data science, operations, and business functions to ensure research findings inform both tactical improvements and long-term strategic decisions. Communicate complex analytical findings, their implications, and recommended actions clearly to executives and external audiences. Requirements:
You are an experienced health economics and outcomes research professional with deep expertise in healthcare data, clinical outcome evaluation, and value-based care. You combine strong quantitative skills with strategic thinking and leadership capabilities, enabling you to guide research teams, investigate complex datasets, and communicate evidence effectively in a fast-moving environment.
At least 10 years of experience conducting health outcomes evaluations within a payer, integrated health system, managed care organization, or value-based care organization. Deep knowledge of clinical outcome measures and causal inference methods. Expertise in predictive analytics and risk adjustment methodologies used to evaluate care quality and clinical outcomes. Experience developing Excel-based financial models or forecasts to estimate the cost-of-care impact of clinical interventions. Advanced SQL proficiency, including extracting, transforming, and analyzing data from large healthcare claims databases. Experience with Python or another programming language is an advantage. Familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Looker, Metabase, Tableau, or Qlik Sense. Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, actuarial science, or another quantitative discipline. An advanced degree is preferred. Strong analytical judgment and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify suspicious data patterns, investigate anomalies, and maintain high standards of accuracy and documentation. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and build effective working relationships with clinical, data science, and business teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex research findings and recommendations to executive leaders and external stakeholders. Strong understanding of healthcare data, financial concepts, and analytical approaches that support operational decisions and strategic planning. Proven ability to prioritize initiatives, act decisively, and deliver results in fast-paced, evolving, or scaling organizations. Adaptability and comfort working through ambiguity, shifting priorities, and changing business needs. A member-focused mindset and commitment to improving the care experience for people affected by cancer. Ability to tailor analytical solutions and communication to the needs of different audiences. Benefits:
Annual base salary ranging from $130,000 to $190,000, depending on the level at which the role is hired, qualifications, experience, skill set, and internal equity. Equity as part of the total compensation package. Additional employee benefits as part of the overall compensation offering. Fully remote work arrangement. Opportunity to lead research initiatives that measure clinical outcomes and demonstrate the economic value of oncology care. Collaborative, cross-functional environment involving research, clinical, data science, and business teams. Opportunity to contribute to a more inclusive healthcare system and improve the experience of people living with cancer. A workplace that values diverse perspectives, purposeful action, attention to detail, and member-centered decision-making. \n How Jobgether works:
