Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH certifications required Must-Have: Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips Experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, Stepdown Telemetry experience including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Experience with Rapid Response Teams and IV insulin protocols Knowledge in blood product administration and central line management Experience with chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula Tracheostomy management and adherence to isolation precautions Description: This position requires strong nursing skills and the ability to manage multiple patients. The unit operates similarly to an ICU with varying patient acuity levels. Nurses will care for patients who have undergone post rapid response interventions or are experiencing respiratory distress. Candidates should be comfortable managing unstable hemodynamics and withdrawal symptoms. Patients may include those with GI bleeds, post-operative conditions, and complications related to obstetrics. Staffing ratios are maintained at 1:3-4 patients per nurse. Float to sister units will be required as needed. Weekends will be part of the rotation every other week. Nurses must demonstrate proficiency in telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation. Only one vasopressor may be administered per patient; additional requirements necessitate ICU transfer. Bedside telemetry monitors are used for continuous patient monitoring. Overall, this role combines direct patient care with critical thinking and quick decision-making skills.
