Our 122,000 colleagues serve people in more than 160 countries.JOB DESCRIPTION:The OpportunityAs a Senior Procurement Specialist – Plastics, you will be a key driver of Abbott’s Global Procurement Plastics category strategy across global operations. This role leads procurement execution, supplier negotiations, and contract management, while integrating advanced technologies to enhance sustainability and efficiency. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment with business goals, regulatory standards, and innovation initiatives.What You’ll Work OnExecute the plastics category strategy across North America and global sites.Lead supplier identification, evaluation, and selection processes.Manage competitive bidding events (RFIs, RFPs) and lead fact-based negotiations.Manage a Plastics sub-category by:Developing and executing sourcing strategies for plastic materials and components.Monitoring market trends, resin pricing, and supplier capabilities.Driving cost-saving opportunities and value engineering initiatives.Partnering with engineering and operations teams to align specifications with business needs.Ensuring compliance with quality, regulatory, and sustainability requirements.Improving supplier performance and mitigating risk.Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.Support contract development, statements of work, and standard operating procedures.Drive multiple procurement projects through complex sourcing processes.Develop and maintain deep category knowledge and market intelligence.Assist in financial planning, LBE projections, and cash flow improvement initiatives.Execute the plastics category strategy across North America and global sites.Lead supplier identification, evaluation, and selection processes.Research and evaluate business requirements and suppliers.
