Apply now and become a part of our exciting journey!Job Summary:The Manager of Contractor & Construction will maintain standards for oversight of contractors performing rail infrastructure construction, maintenance, or replacement, including engineering emergency response work. This role focuses on expanding service offerings, driving contractor accountability, and managing projects in the freight rail, short line, and industrial sectors. This role is responsible for oversight of projects where RailPros is hiring the contractor directly to execute work for our clients, or where the contractor is performing work directly for a client who has engaged RailPros to manage the project.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Provide constructability reviews and developing/analyzing construction phasing from the railroads' perspectiveBe able to communicate effectively with contractors and railroad managersAbility to read and understand construction and phasing plansProvide sound and economical solutions to track, subgrade, and drainage facilities issuesConduct inspections walking and other means as necessaryDevelopment of capital and maintenance work projects to reduce and control the risks associated with railwayPrioritize site interventions as a result of determinations from site inspection, monitoring, and risk assessmentsVerify quantities of materials received or usedVerify distances to ensure accuracy of dimensions of installations and layoutsPrepare daily and weekly reports as requiredProficient in civil, structures, and tracksCapable of balancing multiple responsibilities and concurrent activities and initiativesMaintain standards to which RailPros will hold accountable the contractors we hire to complete work for our clientsFollow standardized safety and documentation protocols to ensure compliance and operational excellenceDrive technological innovationContribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture, free from behaviors that undermine morale, productivity, or organizational valuesUphold the organization's standards of integrity, accountability, and respect in all duties and interactionsAdhere to all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulationOther duties as assigned or required to meet the business needsQualificationsKnowledge Skills and Abilities:Expert in the field, understanding customer needs and the goals for projects to enhance service/safety, as well as staying current on the latest technologies which, combined with lessons learned, allows personnel to leverage and develop practical solutions for their rail networkApplying logical thought processes and organizing resources in order to solve issues and meet commitmentsMaking decisions and seizing opportunities in the context of BA business objectivesPartnering effectively with others in order to achieve resultsSatisfying internal and external customer expectations and developing customer partnershipsProficiency with electronic communications including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)Required Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, or related field or 5+ years of experience in rail industry – preference to field operationsAdditional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:Valid driver's licenseAbility to qualify for necessary background and safety checks mandated by clientsAbility to pass a RailPros driving background auditOSHA 10 (prefer OSHA 30)BilingualPrevious Railroad certificationsWhy RailPros?
