FY27: School Registrar, 8hrs/12mos, Bethesda-Chevy Chase HS (Ad closes 7/15/26)

Overview Under general supervision, performs varied and responsible work in the registration and transfer of students, and in the preparation and maintenance of student records and transcripts for a senior high school. The work involves applying specialized procedures to maintain and operate registration processes, maintaining contacts with colleges, universities, testing services and employers. The role requires considerable judgment in releasing confidential information, retaining records, researching and interpreting information for the official record. Volume and nature of work follows the school cycle from enrollment to graduation and employees exercise considerable independence in scheduling work to achieve maximum efficiency. Responsibilities Perform registration and transfer of students; prepare and maintain student records and transcripts; develop and apply specialized procedures to support registration processes; maintain contacts with colleges, universities, testing services, and employers; exercise judgment in releasing confidential information and retaining records; research and interpret information for official records; schedule work to meet deadlines and maximize efficiency. Qualifications Must exercise extreme tact with confidential information; must be able to work independently and exercise sound judgment; ability to supervise clerical personnel; ability to work effectively with students, administrators, instructional staff, and office staff. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Considerable knowledge of modern office practices including records management, school curriculum, and course credit system. Knowledge of business English, vocabulary, spelling, and arithmetic. Ability to verify incoming records, maintain a complete record system, assemble and organize data, and prepare reports. Ability to make student referrals and maintain clerical records in accordance with policies. Proficient operation of a typewriter and computer terminal; skill in word-processing equipment. Good human relations skills. Knowledge and ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS). Education & Training Associate’s degree required; coursework in guidance or counseling. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Two+ years of experience working with students in a school system, including some experience in Montgomery County Public Schools. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database software such as FileMaker Pro. Compensation Wage range: $26.47 to $38.15 per hour based on years of service.
