Chamber Support Staff - U.S. House of Representatives Office of the Sergeant at Arms | Chamber Operations Division | U.S. Capitol Overview PS2G is seeking a detail-oriented Chamber Support Staff professional to support operations within the Office of the Sergeant at Arms, U.S. House of Representatives. This role is central to Chamber Operations, ensuring secure visitor access, enforcing legislative protocols, and maintaining operational flow within the U.S. Capitol complex. This position demands professionalism, heightened situational awareness, and demonstrated capability in security-sensitive, protocol-driven environments. You'll work at the intersection of public service, federal security operations, and legislative support—directly impacting the day-to-day functioning of the House of Representatives. Keywords: Capitol Hill operations, federal government, House of Representatives, security operations, visitor management, protocol compliance, legislative support, federal employment, government operations Key Responsibilities Serve as primary point of contact and first line of communication for visitors accessing the House Gallery; manage constituent inquiries and official guest coordination Facilitate seamless access for constituents, congressional staff, official delegations, and tours within established security parameters Operate secure screening checkpoints; maintain accountability for prohibited items and stored belongings in accordance with federal protocols Escort, manage, and coordinate large groups and delegations through Capitol complex facilities; ensure orderly movement and adherence to House decorum standards Control and monitor access to the House Floor during authorized tour periods and legislative sessions Enforce established rules, procedures, and decorum standards with consistency, professionalism, and diplomatic precision Support administrative coordination, data tracking, and operational logistics for Chamber Operations Division Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with security and operational documentation requirements Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work across multiple office and operational environments within the U.S. Capitol complex and surrounding facilities Frequent standing, walking, and movement between buildings; ability to navigate Capitol layout and facilities independently Lift and carry items up to 50 lbs; perform physical activities including bending, crouching, and sustained standing Operate effectively in varied indoor and outdoor conditions; adapt to weather and environmental changes Maintain alertness and responsiveness in high-visibility, security-sensitive settings Required Qualifications Proven customer service and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact professionally across diverse populations and hierarchies Demonstrated capacity to manage high-volume interactions in fast-paced, dynamic environments without compromising accuracy or professionalism Track record of following established procedures, maintaining security protocol compliance, and upholding organizational standards Strong attention to detail, organizational discipline, and ability to prioritize competing tasks Ability to work collaboratively within team-oriented structures; comfort with hierarchical, mission-driven environments Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance and pass background investigation Preferred Qualifications Experience in public sector, federal government, or regulated industry environments Background in visitor services, hospitality, event coordination, security operations support, or similar roles Familiarity with structured, protocol-driven operational environments Experience working in security-sensitive facilities or government buildings Knowledge of Capitol Hill operations, legislative procedures, or House administrative functions Experience with access control systems, check-in procedures, or security checkpoint operations Multi-tasking ability and composure in high-pressure or high-visibility situations Why PS2G At PS2G, you support consequential work that directly advances federal operations and public service delivery.
