ABOUT CLEARHORIZON

ClearHorizon Forensic & Counseling Group is a multidisciplinary behavioral health practice providing evidence-based therapy, court-ordered assessments, and supportive services for individuals navigating legal, family, and personal challenges. We partner with courts, attorneys, and probation officers across the DMV region to provide timely, professional, and client-centered care.

ClearHorizon Forensic & Counseling Group is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Substance Abuse Counselor to provide group counseling services within our ASAM Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Program .

The counselor will facilitate structured substance use treatment groups, support individualized treatment goals, provide relapse-prevention education, monitor client participation and progress, and complete timely clinical documentation.

The position also collaborates with the clinical team to support coordinated, person-centered care for individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong group-facilitation, communication, documentation, crisis-response, and professional-boundary skills.

Applicants must hold an active Virginia substance abuse counseling credential and meet all required background screening, training, and organizational compliance requirements.

Must meet one of the following for CSAC:

To achieve the credential of a CSAC, you must have:

A Bachelor’s degree; and, 240 clock hours of didactic training in substance abuse education from one of the following programs: A regionally accredited college or university; or Seminars or workshops from one of the approved providers and in the core content areas listed in 18VAC115-30-50.

120 of the required 240 hours must be completed prior to registration of supervision.

2,000 hours of supervised experience in the practice of clinical substance abuse counseling services to include:

One to four hours per 40 hours of work experience under supervision between the supervisor and the supervisee for a total of 100 hours.

Group supervision hours are equivalent to individual supervision hours, but are limited to 50 of the required 100 hours.

The supervised experience must be completed in no less than 12 months and no more than 60 months.

• Certifications are required for TOVA, First Aid, CPR, Medication Management, and Food Handler.
• Satisfactory outcome of a criminal background investigation, drug screening, and a registry check by the Department of Social Services.
