Playful Pups Retreat at our Milton Grove Road North location in Elizabethtown, PA is seeking a full-time Shift Lead to guide and support our team as they deliver exceptional care to our clients and their pets. This full-time position earns a competitive wage of $14.50–$16.50 per hour , based on experience. In this leadership role, you are essential to the success of daily operations. You oversee and support team members during your shift, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure that all responsibilities are completed thoroughly and on time. You lead by example, maintaining high standards for safety, cleanliness, and animal care.

You confidently manage playgroups, supervising dog interactions and stepping in when needed to prevent or resolve conflicts. You assist with feedings, administer medications as scheduled, and actively participate in daily sanitation to ensure our facility remains clean, safe, and welcoming.

Compassionate and attentive, you provide hands-on care while also supporting and guiding your team. You take pride in creating a calm, organized, and positive environment for both dogs and staff, and you play a key role in upholding our reputation for excellence.

• 18+ years of age

• Professional experience handling dogs

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for extended periods and working outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Prior experience in a dog daycare, boarding facility, or dog training environment strongly preferred

• Punctual, reliable, and highly accountable

• Strong communication and leadership skills

• Compassionate, calm, and confident under pressure

• Able to manage multiple tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced setting

This is a full-time position with shifts of 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM or 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM . Candidates must be available to work every other weekend and select major holidays.

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Team members must be able to stand for extended periods, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, sit, bend, twist, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds . Clear vision, hearing, and effective communication skills are required.

Safely handling dogs of all sizes - including dogs that may pull or jump - is an essential function of this position. Playful Pups Retreat prioritizes safety, and all team members are expected to consistently follow established policies and procedures.
