The COTA will work directly with students to help improve the functional skills needed for participation and success throughout the school day. Responsibilities Implement occupational therapy treatment plans and goals established by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Provide individual and small-group occupational therapy services to students. Support development of fine motor, visual-motor, sensory-processing, self-care, handwriting, coordination, and functional school-based skills. Monitor student performance and progress toward established IEP goals. Communicate observations, concerns, and changes in student performance to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including treatment notes and progress information. Assist with implementing accommodations, adaptive equipment, sensory strategies, and therapeutic activities within the school environment. Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, related-service providers, families, and other members of the student's educational team. Participate in team meetings and contribute relevant information regarding student progress when appropriate. Educate school staff and families on strategies that support students' functional skills and independence. Maintain therapy materials, equipment, and treatment areas in a safe and organized manner. Follow district policies, confidentiality requirements, and professional standards of practice. Qualifications Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current **Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)** credential through NBCOT. Current state licensure or authorization to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, as required. Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred, but qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy, special education, and IEP processes is preferred. Strong communication, organization, documentation, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
