Maintenance Mechanic

Contract 12+ Months Contract with High Possibility of Conversion

Location Client Park, Illinois 60064

Shift 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (Candidates must be flexible with work hours for conversion consideration.)

Responsibilities

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on plant electrical and mechanical systems to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade production, packaging, and filling line equipment.

Repair gear heads, reducers, centrifugal pumps, and positive displacement pumps.

Install and maintain piping systems, including Black Iron, Stainless Steel, Copper, PVC, and Flexible Tubing.

Install and replace mechanical components such as seals, bearings, O-rings, gaskets, belts, chains, rollers, sprockets, gears, and sheaves.

Weld Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, and Aluminum, and fabricate guards using sheet metal and Lexan.

Perform metal cutting using plasma cutters and torches.

Wire and repair electric motors, replace lighting fixtures, and perform basic electrical wiring repairs.

Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

Size fuses, motor overload protection, and wiring in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Troubleshoot and repair high-speed filling, packaging, and conveying equipment.

Perform machine adjustments on liquid line seamers, bottle sealers, bottle cappers, and rotary sterilizers.

Troubleshoot and repair barcode scanners and Videojet ink printers.

Ensure proper operation of electrical and mechanical components, including push buttons, switches, timers, solenoids, electrical disconnects, and AC/DC motors.

Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production stoppages while implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks and maintain a strong presence on the production floor.

Assist Manufacturing and Engineering teams in achieving production goals and throughput initiatives.

Escort and support external service providers during maintenance activities.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, spare parts inventory, and communicate material requirements to supervisors.

Maintain housekeeping standards within the maintenance shop.

Ensure compliance with FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA, and Client policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Be available to work overtime, weekends, or extended hours as required by business needs.

Basic Qualifications

Technical Degree required. Minimum 2 years of Maintenance Mechanic experience. Hands-on experience with Robotics is required. Experience working in a Manufacturing environment is required. Cleanroom experience is preferred. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment. Hands-on experience with welding, fabrication, and electrical/mechanical repairs. Proficient in using maintenance tools and equipment, including multimeters, welders, lathes, mills, torches, micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools. Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Must be flexible to support overtime, weekends, and changing business requirements.
