NICU Nurse Manager

Position Details Department: PCH‑EV JV | NICU Location: Gilbert Shift: Mon‑Fri, Days, 8am‑5pm Category: Director/Management Posting #: 1024476 Employee Type: Full‑Time Position Summary The Manager, Clinical Service promotes family‑centered care by supporting Phoenix Children’s mission and values. The role manages, evaluates and supervises operational functions and activities of an assigned area by guiding and supporting staff. The Manager also serves as a liaison with other departments to plan, implement, communicate, evaluate and coordinate patient care operations across the enterprise, while also facilitating quick resolution of issues to ensure excellence in a family‑centered care environment. Position Duties Clinical Leadership: Maintains 24/7 accountability for patient care operations; supports unit needs; collaborates on patient care philosophy, standards, policies; ensures high‑quality nursing care and regulatory compliance; serves as bed‑manager; stays current with best practices. Human Resource Management: Oversees personnel administration—recruitment, interviewing, selection; fosters engagement, low turnover; manages performance development, grievances, documentation; monitors safety reports; collaborates on staff competency and education; participates in quality reviews. Financial Management: Monitors reimbursement impact, ensures accurate billing; reviews financial data monthly; recommends and implements budget‑compliance strategies; evaluates productivity. Strategic Management: Establishes unit‑based goals aligned with organizational priorities; supports programs; oversees care delivery; participates in committees; facilitates shared governance; supports research and quality improvement; influences nursing practice. Miscellaneous: Performs other job‑related duties as requested. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required). Master’s degree in related field (preferred). Experience: Five years in pediatric specialty area or population with leadership/supervisory responsibilities (required). Special Skills: Analytical and statistical skills for budgeting; critical thinking and problem‑solving for clinical, systems, and personnel issues; 24‑hour unit coverage capability (required). Additional Requirements: Current AZ RN license or equivalent; BLS certification (required); PALS certification within one year of hire (required); National nursing certification (preferred). Certification / License / Registry Requirements: AZ RN License OR Compact to Arizona License OR Compact State – Required; Basic Life Support – Required. Physical Requirements: Fine motor skills, hearing, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting occasionally, standing frequently, stooping/crouching/kneeling/crawling, talking, walking, near/far vision, color discrimination, keyboard/mouse use, lifting up to 35 lbs frequently, lifting >35 lbs occasionally. Occupational Exposure/Risk Potential: Inside office environment; airborne communicable diseases; bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluid; fumes or airborne particles; radiation; toxic or caustic chemicals.
