Job Purpose and Summary Within our Retail locations, District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in each pharmacy. As a DSP, you will help fill pharmacist scheduling gaps and support pharmacy teams under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL). You’ll be accountable for supporting the management, oversight and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team. Responsibilities Living our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling and immunizing practices. Traveling the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC) and serving as Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails. Assuming Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the pharmacy team to do the same. Proactively offering and delivering immunizations and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Managing pharmacy inventory and following best practices, especially for cold chain products. Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe and inclusive team dynamic. Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills and seeking opportunities to expand knowledge. Providing pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible. Understanding and complying with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards and ethical principles, and CVS Health policies. Required Qualifications Active pharmacist license in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe. Attention and Focus Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time. Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another. Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy. Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately. Communication Skills Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Utilize active listening and give full attention to what others are saying. Mathematical Reasoning Use math to solve problems, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense and other dosage calculations. Problem Resolution Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options. Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time. Lift, scan, and bag items, and reach overhead as needed. Move fingers repetitively and control precision on machines. Lift up to 20 lbs and/or exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally. Receive detailed information through oral communication. Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
