Job Title: Software Test Engineer (internship-5 years experience)

Job Description

The Software Test Engineer conducts design verification on software and performs core engineering activities related to planning and designing products. This role focuses on creating and executing primarily manual test systems, supporting automated testing, and collaborating closely with design engineering teams to ensure high-quality web and mobile products.

Responsibilities

• Perform software regression analysis to validate new features and ensure existing functionality remains stable.
• Create and execute primarily manual test systems, while also contributing to the development and maintenance of automated test systems.
• Perform detailed interface and requirements analysis to ensure complete and accurate test coverage.
• Use software test tools such as SQL, Python, and Postman to design, execute, and analyze tests.
• Create clear and comprehensive content for design reviews, including test plans, test results, and risk assessments.
• Perform design verification tests in accordance with established protocols and standards.
• Write design verification protocols that define test objectives, methods, and acceptance criteria.
• Work with web and mobile products to verify functionality, performance, and reliability across platforms.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute Design Verification Test (DVT) protocols and prepare thorough test summary reports.
• Take initiative to provide technical feedback and innovative ideas to the design engineering team based on test findings to drive continuous improvement.
• Participate in and contribute to technical design reviews and related activities throughout the design phase.
• Support requirements gathering, validation, and traceability to ensure tests align with product requirements.
• Develop and maintain test procedures and test plans that align with project goals and regulatory expectations.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience performing software regression analysis.
• Experience creating and executing manual test systems, with exposure to automated testing.
• Ability to perform interface and requirements analysis to support comprehensive testing.
• Hands-on experience with software test tools such as SQL, Python, and Postman.
• Experience creating content for design reviews, including test documentation and test results.
• Experience performing design verification tests for software-driven products.
• Experience writing design verification protocols that define test strategy and acceptance criteria.
• Experience working with web and mobile products in a test or validation capacity.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute Design Verification Test (DVT) protocols and prepare test summary reports.
• Strong communication skills to provide clear technical feedback and collaborate with design engineering teams.
• Experience with requirements gathering, validation, test procedure development, and test plan creation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Internship experience within the medical device industry preferred.
• Familiarity with validation practices and documentation in regulated environments.
• Ability to contribute constructively in technical design reviews.
• Comfort working with both manual and automated testing approaches.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in test design and execution.

Work Environment

The Software Test Engineer works in a collaborative engineering environment focused on the design and verification of software for web and mobile products. The role involves frequent interaction with design engineering teams, participation in technical design reviews, and regular use of tools such as SQL, Python, and Postman for testing and analysis. Work typically takes place in an office or lab setting where structured design verification testing, documentation, and reporting are central to daily activities.

This is a Contract position based out of Golden Valley, MN.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
