Job ID: 36382 Agency: Office of Attorney General, Division of Criminal Investigation Location: Pierre, SD Salary: $73,193.10 annually Pay Grade: J Closing Date: Open Until Filled The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is hiring for the position of DCI Law Enforcement Training (LET) Coordinator. This full‑time role focuses on coordinating basic and advanced law enforcement training courses, ensuring classroom and range readiness, supervising student and instructor behavior, and developing training materials and lesson plans. Periodic travel may be required for work or training. Duties Recruiting and selecting instructors (adjunct, vendor, or contractor) Developing training schedules Providing course materials to students and instructors Ensuring classroom and range readiness Supervising student and instructor behavior in classroom and dormitory settings Enforcing student academic, disciplinary, and performance standards Developing lesson plans and other course materials Managing training resources and facilities Assessing the effectiveness of course materials and instructor delivery Maintaining course and student records – paper and electronic Establishing and maintaining a positive rapport with SD law enforcement agencies Providing instruction to basic and advanced students as needed, based on qualifications Providing instruction of arrest and control tactic techniques for basic and advanced training Licenses And Certifications The incumbent will be sponsored by Law Enforcement Training to attend any trainings or certifications necessary to be proficient in training duties. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Basic law enforcement operations Adult learning techniques, principles and methods Arrest and control tactic techniques Use of force law and de‑escalation training Effective use of training materials Microsoft Office products and software Skill To Use computers to send email, enter data, and use Microsoft Office products Prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks Experience with developing new curriculum Develop learning objectives, lesson plans, and evaluation tools Teach and demonstrate arrest and control tactic techniques Ability To Solve problems and resolve conflicts Provide instruction to basic and advanced students as needed, based on qualifications Communicate effectively both orally and in writing Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders Provide recommendations to correct student performance or behavioral issues Participate in intensive training up to 10 hours per day Attend applicable training to better perform job duties Work well with others and be a team player Additional Requirements To be considered, please submit a resume and letter of interest. Successful applicants will undergo a background investigation and an abuse and neglect screening. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.
