Title: Assistant Cheerleading Coach

Summary/Objective

The assistant cheerleading team coach will support the head cheerleading team coach in recruitment, management and administration of the cheerleading team. The assistant coach will also contribute to the marketing and fan experience team in the promotion of athletic events through campus and community outreach efforts.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for leading day-to-day operation and management of the team:
  • Assist in practice planning and execution
  • Assist in leading conditioning and strength training planning and execution
  • Act as point of contact for team for questions/concerns/conflicts; keeping head cheerleading team coach in the communication loop and for escalations
  • Assist in Game Day planning and execution
  • Assist in leadership development and mentoring for cheerleading team captains
  • Assist in technical development of athletes
  • Assist in choreography development for Game Days, competition, and other appearances
  • Assist head coach in working with the admissions office to identify potential students through various outreach efforts including campus tours and other admissions office recruiting efforts. Contribute to recruiting efforts for the cheerleading team by with follow-up with prospects and working through pipeline development with head cheerleading team coach
  • Assist head coach in the evaluation and selection of the cheerleading team throughout the prospect clinics, general recruiting, and the tryout process
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for cheerleading team-based events and appearances including but not limited to Game Days, Admissions events and Campus/Community events
  • Attend athletic and campus team meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Some travel is expected for this position.

Required Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years' experience in College Competitive and/or Game Day Cheerleading or 5+ years Level 4+ Allstar experience.
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Four years' experience in College Competitive and Game Day Cheerleading.
  • Former or Current UCA/NCA Staff Experience
  • Two years' high school or college cheerleading, dance, and/or gymnastics coaching experience.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
