Plant Operator

Operates plant packing equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Responsibilities include assisting in meeting plant production requirements, observing operating process equipments and maintenance needs, communicating with supervision to ensure maximum performance, reading and interpreting instructions and documentation, moving materials and equipment to work locations, following hazardous waste handling guidelines, completing records, maintaining tools and equipment, performing clean-up and housekeeping activities, and observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.

Job requirements include working within precise limits or standards of accuracy, planning work and selecting proper tools, comparing and visualizing objects in three dimensions, making decisions based on measurable criteria, and working at heights without fear.

Qualifications may require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field is required. Instructions and pre-established guidelines are relied upon to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Physical requirements include standing 50% of the time, walking 30%, sitting 20%, lifting 50 lbs, carrying 50 lbs, pushing 70 ft-lb, pulling 70 ft-lb, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and fingering.
