Position Summary

The Automotive Technician is responsible for accurately diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicles while meeting dealership productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction standards. In this energetic role, you will perform work ranging from routine service to complex mechanical and electrical repairs, ensuring every vehicle meets factory safety and performance guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnostics & Repair: Perform accurate diagnostics using Toyota factory diagnostic tools, schematics, and service information to identify complex mechanical, electrical, powertrain, and transmission concerns.
• Maintenance & Inspections: Complete multi-point inspections (MPI), wheel alignments, ADAS calibrations (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), and routine maintenance in accordance with factory guidelines.
• Clear Customer Communication: Utilize technician video tools and digital inspection platforms to document repair needs and explain technical findings clearly to Service Advisors and customers.
• Quality Workmanship: Complete customer-pay and warranty repairs efficiently, accurately, and safely, maintaining high quality standards to ensure repairs are fixed right the first time.
• Shop Equipment Usage: Utilize hand tools, power tools, specialized diagnostic machinery, and dealership equipment safety and effectively.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Service Advisors, Parts Department personnel, and management to ensure smooth workflow and timely vehicle delivery.
• Safety & Standards: Follow all dealership policies, safety protocols, and environmental standards while maintaining a clean, organized work station.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Proven professional automotive repair experience with a strong background in automotive diagnostics.
• Licensing: Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Tools: Must own professional hand tools (specialty tools and specialized equipment provided by dealership where applicable).
• Physical & Technical Requirements: Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds, work in a fast-paced shop environment, and demonstrate basic digital proficiency for video inspection tools and digital repair systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: Dealership technician experience preferred; Toyota/Lexus brand knowledge strongly preferred.
• Certifications: ASE Certifications and/or official Toyota Factory Training/Certifications are a strong plus.
• Technical Proficiency: Experience with ADAS calibration procedures, electrical troubleshooting, powertrain/transmission repairs, and vehicle alignments.
• Communication: Excellent problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and strong interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation Details

• Expected Annual Earnings: $80,000.00 – $200,000.00+
• Pay Structure: Competitive flat-rate pay plan. High-performing technicians regularly exceed the target range based on productivity, efficiency, certifications, and overall shop output.
• California Labor Law Compliance: In accordance with California law, employees are paid at least minimum wage for all applicable non-productive duties, rest periods, and other compensable time.
