We have an opportunity at our corporate office for a Program Specialist II (Hybrid) on our Career Advancement Collective team. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in either our Chicago or DC office.

This position will support the planning, coordination, implementation, and ongoing administration of physician-facing education, leadership convenings, and member advisory structures focused on value-based care adoption and sustainable success. It will provide operational, logistical, and programmatic support that enables the AMA to effectively convene stakeholders, develop educational resources, support physician leaders, monitor emerging trends, and accelerate adoption of sustainable physician-led value-based care models. Additionally, the role will support the coordination of internal and external communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

Program Coordination

• Coordinate the day-to-day planning, scheduling, and execution of value-based care (VBC) programs, educational initiatives, leadership convenings, and advisory group activities to ensure successful delivery of strategic program objectives.
• Provide operational and administrative support for physician-facing programs by managing timelines, deliverables, meeting logistics, communications, and follow-up activities across multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Develop, organize, and maintain program documentation, meeting materials, agendas, discussion guides, presentations, and participant resources to support effective engagement and decision-making.
• Support the ongoing administration of member advisory structures, communities of practice, and expert working groups by facilitating communications, tracking action items, and maintaining engagement activities.
• Monitor program activities, milestones, and outcomes to support continuous improvement and effective execution of physician-led value-based care initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement, Collaboration & Communications

• Serve as a coordination point for communication among physician leaders, member health care organizations, external stakeholders, and internal AMA business units involved in value-based care initiatives.
• Assist in gathering, organizing, and communicating stakeholder feedback, implementation challenges, emerging issues, and best practices identified through program activities and engagement forums.
• Support the development and dissemination of member-facing communications, educational resources, and engagement materials related to value-based care transformation efforts.
• Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners to ensure consistent information sharing and effective coordination across initiatives.

Research & Analysis Support

• Conduct research and information gathering related to value-based payment models, physician practice transformation strategies, health care policy developments, and emerging industry trends.
• Analyze and synthesize information from payer initiatives, policy developments, care delivery innovations, performance measurement approaches, and industry best practices to support program planning and decision-making.
• Prepare summaries, briefing materials, reports, and recommendations that help physician leaders and program teams understand emerging opportunities, challenges, and market developments.
• Assist in the development of educational content and resources.
• Support program evaluation activities by tracking trends, gathering stakeholder input, and identifying lessons learned that may inform future programs, resources, and policy priorities.
• Monitor developments in care delivery, payment, and operational innovations that support sustainable value-based care delivery and physician success.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree required in health administration, public health, health policy, business administration, healthcare management, or a related field. Master's degree in public health (MPH), health administration (MHA), business administration (MBA), health policy, or related discipline preferred.
2. Minimum 3+ years of professional experience supporting healthcare, health policy, physician engagement, population health, payment reform, or value-based care-related programs and initiatives required.
3. Basic knowledge of value-based care concepts, including alternative payment models, accountable care organizations (ACOs), quality measurement, population health management, and physician practice transformation required.
4. Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple projects, meetings, deliverables, and stakeholders simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing meeting materials, summaries, presentations, reports, and stakeholder communications for professional audiences.
6. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
7. Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with the ability to gather, organize, synthesize, and communicate healthcare information and emerging trends.
8. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook) and experience supporting virtual and in-person meetings, events, or convenings.
9. Experience working with physician organizations, health systems, health plans, employer coalitions, healthcare associations, or other stakeholders involved in value-based payment and care delivery transformation preferred; Some travel required.
