Machinist

Job Description Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate vertical and horizontal 5-Axis machining centers . In this role, you will perform complex machining functions including surfacing, profiling, boring, facing, and threading on metallic workpieces such as castings, weldments, forgings, plates, blocks, and tubing. Essential Functions: * Planning: Study work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, specifications, and orthographic drawings. Interpret Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T). * Programming: Program 5-Axis CNC machines using Mastercam . * Set-Up: Set tools, offsets, and compensation; calculate tooling requirements (including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry); prove part programs; utilize "3-point" workpiece methods with stock models/tooling balls; hang large workpieces on horizontal machine centers. * Verification: Measure head clearance, machine travel, and positions; conduct first-run part and sample workpiece inspections adhering to international standards. * Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Maintain specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, performing root-cause analysis, adjusting controls, and replacing worn tools. Perform preventive maintenance (Total Productive Maintenance) and troubleshoot issues. * Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations. Maintain Quality Assurance procedures and processes. * Documentation & Communication: Maintain continuity between shifts by documenting actions and irregularities in Plex (ERP) . Interface with Engineering, Programming, Materials, and Quality teams as necessary. * Continuous Improvement: Accept ownership of new requests and explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Minimum Qualifications: Education: * High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (or combination of education/experience). Experience (Must-Have): * Minimum 2 years of experience with Mastercam . * Minimum 5 years of machining experience across multiple 5-Axis machining applications (Zimmermann, Apec, FPT, Mecof). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional & Technical Skills, Controls & Instrumentation, Supply Management, Tooling, Time Management, Coordination, Inventory Control, Attention to Detail, Judgment. * General knowledge of QMS (ISO9001/AS9100), 5S practices, and basic fixturing. * Math ability: Add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, percent; draw/interpret bar graphs. * Ability to follow written/oral/diagram instructions and solve problems involving several concrete variables. * High accuracy with little to no rework required; self-starter who seeks new tasks. * Strong punctuality, attendance, cooperativeness, and ability to accept constructive criticism. * Must follow safety procedures, security protocols, and wear proper PPE. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have): * Experience with Heidenhain and Fidia controls. * Crane experience. * Knowledge of AS9100 and IS14001 (Environmental policy).
