Array Architects

Healthcare Planner

Array Architects is seeking a Healthcare Planner 2 to support and lead portions of complex healthcare planning efforts across outpatient, inpatient, and system-focused projects. This role is ideal for a planner who has moved beyond basic support tasks and is ready to independently lead departmental planning efforts, user engagement sessions, and planning deliverables.

This position requires a strong understanding of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and spatial planning strategies, along with the ability to translate user input into clear and actionable planning solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Lead planning efforts for departments or smaller healthcare projects
  • Develop functional programs, blocking diagrams, stacking studies, and test fits
  • Facilitate user group meetings and synthesize operational input into planning direction
  • Coordinate planning solutions across architecture, interiors, and engineering disciplines
  • Support medical planning narratives, planning graphics, and strategic planning presentations
  • Identify operational inefficiencies, workflow challenges, and planning opportunities
  • Participate in pursuits, interviews, and client presentations
  • Mentor junior planning staff and contribute to planning standards and tools
Qualifications
  • 6–8 years total professional experience
  • 3–5 years focused healthcare planning experience
  • Experience with healthcare programming, operational flow, and departmental relationships
  • Strong understanding of healthcare design principles and clinical workflows
  • Ability to independently lead defined planning scopes
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Revit experience preferred
  • Licensed Architect, Interior Designer, or working toward licensure preferred

Core Behavioral Expectations

At Array, healthcare planning is highly collaborative and deeply connected to client trust, team alignment, and operational problem-solving. All planners are expected to demonstrate:

  • Active listening and empathy in client, user, and team interactions
  • Clear, concise communication across verbal, written, and visual formats
  • Accountability and follow-through on commitments, deliverables, and coordination
  • Collaboration across disciplines, offices, consultants, and project teams
  • Adaptability and a proactive problem-solving mindset in complex environments
  • Curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth

Successful planners at Array balance technical expertise with emotional intelligence, operational curiosity, and a team-first approach to project delivery.

Ideal Candidate

You are someone who enjoys connecting operations, workflow, and design. You are comfortable leading discussions with users, organizing complex information, and helping teams move toward clear decisions. You are ready to take ownership of planning scope while continuing to grow into larger project leadership responsibilities.
