Mechanical Engineer, HVAC, Sr.

Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company (SSC) is seeking an HVAC Engineer to support maintenance, operation, and project planning for HVAC systems at Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) locations in Vandenberg AFB, CA and Cape Canaveral AFS, FL. Responsibilities Execute preventative maintenance procedures with technicians. Investigate and troubleshoot HVAC anomalies with technicians. Generate work-authorizing documents. Implement upgrades and propose design changes. Prepare and update drawings, plans, and procedures. Prepare purchase requisitions. Improve existing preventative maintenance procedures. Additional Duties Identify scope of work for mechanical designs (HVAC/Utilities) based on preliminary review of customer requirements. Assess and analyze the operation of existing systems using detailed trend analyses. Make calculations for heating and cooling loads, equipment sizing, and other design functions. Implement small design upgrade projects or provide technical expertise for large projects. Update documentation for inclusion in drawings by drafters and configuration management. Perform procedural updates and other systems requirement updates. Prepare detailed estimates and develop probable cost estimates for projects within the business unit. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college. Minimum of 4 years of combined engineering experience. Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and documentation skills. U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain TS/SCI w/Poly clearance. Desired Skills Knowledge of psychometrics, fluid systems, and heat transfer. Familiarity with cleanroom systems and Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems as applied to HVAC systems. Ability to read, interpret, and apply mechanical system codes, drawings, and specifications. Familiarity with ASHRAE and NFPA standards; Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC); Predictive Maintenance Technologies (PdM); and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) practices. Experience developing technical documentation including system configuration documentation and process & instrumentation diagrams. Experience with project planning, scheduling, design, and implementation. Experience with the design, analysis, operation, and maintenance of HVAC systems. Familiarity with Section 608 of the Clean Air Act (Refrigerant Management Requirements). Ability to develop maintenance requirements and documentation for complex HVAC systems based on RCM analysis. Possessing a TS/SCI clearance with counterintelligence polygraph. Experience with MAXIMO. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Security Clearance Required U.S. citizenship and TS/SCI w/Poly clearance are required. The job requires a federal security clearance; candidates must be able to obtain and maintain this clearance.
