Job Overview

The Production Supervisor - Machining on 3rd shift plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and effective production operations within our manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for leading a team of highly skilled hourly employees, including Machinists, while supporting production workflow, quality, employee performance, and operational planning. This role promotes a culture of Zero Harm, partners with other departments to ensure operational success, and serves as a key leader in maintaining a productive and inclusive work environment. The Production Supervisor supervises 10+ direct reports and is part of the Operations leadership team.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce a Zero Harm culture by upholding and improving safety standards.
• Oversee the efficient operation of production lines and mechanical equipment.
• Supervise, coach, and develop highly skilled hourly employees in both daily operations and long-term growth.
• Collaborate with department leaders to ensure smooth and productive workflow across the facility.
• Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that supports employee engagement and performance.
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) within a production area.
• Manage overtime, staffing resources, and production planning activities.

Physical and Work Requirements

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment and requires regular movement throughout the facility. Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing or sitting) while performing work duties. Frequent walking throughout the facility to support employees, attend meetings, and inspect work areas. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Physical presence is required in accordance with company policy. Ability to inspect work areas and identify safety concerns. Ability to manage competing priorities, work under deadlines, and maintain composure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications/Requirements

High school diploma required; technical degree or higher preferred. Minimum of four (4) years of progressive manufacturing experience. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a team lead or supervisory role. Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. Proficiency with computers and related technologies. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Working knowledge of welding, cutting operations, and heavy equipment remanufacturing/assembly processes. Experience using workforce management systems such as Kronos for attendance, scheduling, and absence tracking.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience implementing or working within Lean manufacturing environments. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Experience using KPIs and performance metrics to drive operational improvements.
