Registered Nurse Emergency Department

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) provides skilled nursing care for adult and pediatric emergency patients. This role involves patient assessment, treatment, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced emergency department environment. The nurse must be proficient in advanced emergency procedures and able to float across different campuses. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage critical care interventions are essential. A minimum of one year of ER experience and multiple certifications are required.

Responsibilities:

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license valid in the state of practice, including compact license recognition.
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Room nursing experience.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS.
• Ability to perform advanced emergency nursing procedures and critical care interventions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to float to different campuses and emergency department units.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with rapid infuser devices and CRRT/dialysis in emergency settings.
• Familiarity with emergency department workflow including ambulance triage, ED holding, and lobby triage.
• Additional certifications relevant to emergency nursing practice.

Special Considerations:

• Must have a minimum 3-month separation from any Providence affiliated facility to qualify as a traveler.
• Travelers must be open to floating to different campuses.
• Weekends are required every other weekend.
• Non-holiday days off (DTO) are 5 days with 1 week added to the end of the contract; longer DTO requires manager approval.
• Shift start times vary: 07:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 19:00.

Scheduling:

• Schedule is posted every 6 weeks.
• Shifts include day, evening, and night start times as listed.
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
• Travel contract includes designated time off after assignment completion.
