Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele experience License: Valid Nursing License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset Stroke experience/NIH assessments Chest tube management PIV starts Trach care Cardiac rhythm interpretation NGT placement Drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management) PCA pumps Medication gtt management (Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF) Description: Seeking a MedSurg/Telemetry Registered Nurse. The position involves providing care for patients with various conditions such as stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6 depending on acuity, with surge staffing potentially increasing these ratios to 1:7-8. The unit has 27 beds with an average census of 20 patients. A nurse may be required to float within the region and will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities. The department includes support staff such as CNAs, who can perform certain tasks if certified. The facility utilizes Epic for electronic medical records and has a range of equipment including Alaris IV pumps and Philips monitors. The culture is positive and team-driven.
